CIRCULATION SECTIONS


CIRCULATION COUNTER WITH BAR CODE TECHNOLOGY

The circulation counter is automated. Members have to bring their Bar-coded Membership Identity Card whenever they visit the library. Books are issued and received back in this counter.


INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECTION

Automated and Digital Library Services are provided in this section. All sections of the Library have been connected through LAN. Computer Data Base of the holdings of the Library in used through Web based AutoLib software.

Library is having more than 25 desktops to cater the various needs of the users and the Library staff. More than 10 desktops are provided for the users for browsing the e-resources, 10 desktops for OPAC service.


STACK AREA SECTION

This is the most important section of the Library. This will display the maintenance of books that are issued on loan. The whole section is arranged in two floors. Members have the facility of open access to most of the collection.

Books are arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Each book is assigned a Class Number and Book Number. Class Number is assigned to a book according to its subject and Book Number individualises a book among others having the same Class Number. In this arrangement books on the same subject are kept together. Members are advised to check the availability of the books through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) Service. After obtaining relevant information through OPAC, the users can proceed to the respective stack area to take the books of their choice.


THESES/DISSERTATION SECTION

M.E. Project Reports and B.E. Project Reports of the colleges are received and maintained by this section. The bibliographic details of these Theses and Dissertations are available on OPAC. The required Theses/Dissertations can be searched through OPAC and referred.


PERIODICAL SECTION

Over 200 National and International journals/Magazines are subscribed and updated periodicals.

TECHNICAL SECTION


BOOK ACQUISITION PROCESS

Requests from Dean’s & Heads of Departments for new books, duplicate checking, ordering, accessioning of books and processing bills for payment are the main functions of this section. Suggestions and recommendations for the purchase of new books can be submitted to this section. All the books received from vendors/publishers and the donated books are physically processed and accessioned. Additionally scrutinizing and passing the bill for the books received.


CLASSIFICATION PROCESS

Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme is followed for classifying the books according to the subject. Each book is assigned a Call Number which consists of Class number, Book Number and Year of publication. The Call Number is written on the spine label of the book. It helps the users is locating the Book from the shelf.


CATALOGUING SECTION

In OPAC the Accn. No., Call No., Author, Title, Sub Title, Publisher, Year, Edition, Price, Page Number details are given.


REPROGRAPHIC SECTION

The reprographic section is functioning inside the library from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.
